Yesterday was my birthday and it was a GREAT day thanks to friends and family!
Let's see. Got up and went to work. Only worked about 3.5 hours and then headed downtown for a lunch meeting. I had the afternoon off. The lunch meeting was for a group of women that I have become friends with through a local moms site- we all work for the website and the bosses get us together from time to time. A woman who has become a pretty good friend had also taken the afternoon off so we went to a new shopping complex near our neighborhood. Walked around in the sunshine, enjoyed the breeze, went to McAlister's for sweet tea and chips n salsa.
I loved that I could stroll about and shop if I wanted or not. I could order food that only I was going to eat. I had zero mess to clean up, no bargaining about what to order, etc. I got to make all my decisions for ME. And I got to go to the bathroom ALONE.
Come home, start dinner. We've been eating out a lot lately and I wanted to cook. I made a roast (butter beef- hunk of beef, stick of butter, water), yukon gold potatoes, baby carrots.
Jeff and I went and picked up the kids from daycare. Went to the store so T could pick me out a birthday cake. And she actually picked out a cake that I would want instead of a cake she would want. There was one with white frosting and pink flowers that I really thought she'd pick. But she surprised us and picked a 2 layer round cake with chocolate icing and yellow flowers- totally my kind of cake. And she even instructed the bakery woman as to what to write on the cake (Happy Birthday Mommy).
Come home and Jeff and kids give me presents. I am so spoiled!! Zach got me a couple of movies (Airplane, What Happens In Vegas) and a book (Wicked). Teagan picked out all of my presents from her on her own. She got me Camp Rock on DVD (long story on that one), a Sesame Street puzzle for us to do together, and a bag of plain M&M's. And Jeff got me a sweeeet bag for my DSLR camera!!!
Then Christy came over and ate dinner with us. And she spoiled me with presents, too!! 4 t-shirts from the Disney Store (Snow White, Pooh, and 2 Mickeys- Teagan is sooooo jealous), some little decorative light up roses, some chocolate, and a mosaic style fish lamp for my kitchen (which is decorated in fish).
Jeff's dad stopped by and ate with us, brought me a card.
Talked to my mom on the phone. My friend who always forgets my birthday didn't forget it this year. My friend who never forgets my birthday or my A-day remembered my birthday- and I'm hoping we get reconnected because of it because we've lost touch lately. Got 30+ messages on Facebook from friends and family with birthday greetings- which was way awesome!
And another friend is taking me out to lunch today!
And anytime T whined or tried to argue... we just reminded her that it is Mommy's birthday so what Mommy says goes. And it WORKED! Of course, her first question this morning was "Is it still your birthday?" LOL!!
